Hi, I'm frighteningly new to this (having only discovered it earlier today) and would like to attend my first event in full regalia without the usual newbie set-up process. I have a couple of these: www.trueswords.com/images/prod/c/cold_steel_bokken_set_540.jpgAnd a couple of these: www.teraasekeskus.com/tuotteet/isotveitset/ColdSteelTrainingDaggerNet.jpgThey are made of polyproplyene, unbreakably tough, and rather flexible. Has anyone here molded one of these into a Dag-approved foam weapon? Is there a way I can foamsmith a Dag-Cover for these that fitted on and taken off (So as to still use the original bokken for non-Dag competitions)? Thanks all, I hope to soon see you on the field of battle, conquering your lands, plundering your homes and reducing your armies to the ash from whence they were raised. -Indalecio Celesta

Hi indalecio, OK, assuming that despite the website's name, they're not made of steel, you COULD use them as a weapon core. But that would be silly. You would be much better off making a weapon for this activity and keeping those for what you bought them for. Go to the main Dagorhir website, www.dagorhir.com, and there are a number of weapon making tutorials that can help you get started. There's a much more active message board there. This one is primarily for folks in California - where are you at? We've got active chapters in the Los Angeles and San Francisco areas. If you can come out to an event, we've got loaner weapons for you to try and experienced foam smiths to help you get going.
